Wire - Type E

Type E Thermocouple Wire is a versatile wire type known for its high accuracy and stability. It offers stronger signals and better accuracy than Type K and Type J at moderate temperature ranges (up to 1000°F). Key features include high EMF output, suitability for cryogenic applications, corrosion resistance, and non-magnetic properties. Type E comes in various designs, including mineral-insulated, cable/wire, and metal-sheathed versions. Its composition consists of Chromel (90% nickel, 10% chromium) for the positive leg and Constantan (95% nickel, 2% aluminum, 2% manganese, 1% silicon) for the negative leg. The insulation material is typically magnesium oxide (MgO). Type E thermocouples find applications in cryogenic research, aerospace, and gas temperature measurement. While not suitable for vacuum or low-oxygen environments, they offer fast response and stable output.
